About the event
Someone we haven't seen for awhile, Jogi Makhani will be our next Meet our Member interviewee. Jogi is an award winning turner, as well as a sculptor, painter and printmaker. Back by popular demand-- Movie Night! You may remember Warren Carpenter who demonstrated for our guild in 2015. Neil has extracted from our TWG Library the video of Warren's demo of turning a natural edge bowl. We will be watching an excerpt at our May 9 meeting, so don't miss out! Warren says "My primary focus is turned objects from solid pieces of wood. I am driven by the challenge of finding the beauty and uniqueness in a piece of wood. Burls or crotch of a tree have those qualities, but often the natural coloration and shape of the many trees provide me with the canvas to create a beautiful turning." The theme of this month's show-and-tell is "New to You". We want to see what you have been doing in the shop that is new to you. This can be anything:
- new materials
- new techniques, finishes
- new equipment or tools you can review for us
